Requirements:

• Grade 10-12 or equivalent NQF level 3-5.
• Recognised National Steam certificate.
• A minimum of 1-3 years of appropriate experience gained in operating boiler. 1-year exposure in a hospital environment.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety act of 1993 and regulations. planning, organising and communication skills, awareness of Batho-Pele principles. Be willing to work in a team and under pressure.

Duties:

• Make requisitions of chemicals from the storeroom as requested.
• Test the quality of water for the softness as well as the returning flows of condensate water.
• Fills the chemical tanks with the required chemicals as prescribed.
• Top up salt in the brine tank. Check the working conditions of chemical pumps.
• Test the total dissolved solids.
• (TDS) and blow-down according to prescriptions.
• Monitors the steam pressure and constantly checks the correct temperature of the hot water tanks.
• Adjust the stocker for efficient steam delivery and check the theatre autoclaves.
