SANParks is looking for two Occupational Health and Safety Practitioners under the Technical Services division within the Kruger National Park on a three-year fixed-term contract. The positions report to the Programme Manager: Technical Services. The incumbent will be allocated the available accommodation the park.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) implementation optimisation, coordination as well as compliance to both legal and world best practices in Occupational Risk Management.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety will be an added advantage.
- 2-3 years’ relevant experience.
- Registered with a Professional body SACPCMP and or Saiosh membership.
- Computer literacy, particularly with regard to Windows97, MS Word Excel and Power Point is essential.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s Licence is an additional requirement.
- Knowledge of the relevant legislations such as the Skills Development, Employment Equity and Basic Conditions of Employment Acts.
- Good Communication skills.
- Interpersonal relations.
Responsibilities
- To implement incident reporting systems and procedures.
- To draw up implementation monitoring and control systems.
- To coordinate periodic audits, workplace inspections at Technical Services depots.
- To compile periodic statistical information and reports.
- To evaluate all programmes and procedures periodically.
- To conduct departmental incident investigations and report to the OHS office.
- To check the safety file of the contractors prior the commencement of the construction.
- Assessment and approval of contractor’s health and safety plan.
- Form part of the project meetings from planning until the end.
- Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures and systems.
- To provide advice to line at Technical Services.
- To liaise with internal and external professional bodies and stakeholders.
