Edenvale Regional Hospital is seeking for nine professional nurses of maternity, operating theatre, high care and pediatrics.
Requirements:
- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. degree/diploma in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification, with a duration of at least 1 year, accredited with the SANC in one of the specialties indicated above.
- A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other clinicians, including report writing when required.
- Able to plan and organize own work and that of support personnel to ensure proper maternal and neonatal care.
- Ability to work independently and innovatively.
- Knowledge of legal prescripts that regulate nursing and health services.
- Decision making and problem-solving abilities within the limit of the public sector and institutional policy framework.
Duties:
- Provide holistic specialized nursing care within set standards and a legal/professional framework.
- To develop and ensure implementation of nursing care plans.
- To partake in quality improvement programme clinical audit.
- Maintain accreditation standards through quality improvement and infection control standards and guidelines.
- To uphold the Batho Pele and patients’ rights charter principles.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records according to legal requirements.
- Participate in staff, students and patients teaching.
- Ensure ongoing education and in-service training of EMTCT, BFHI and ESMOE.
- Participating in the implementation of priority programmes to reduce morbidity and mortality rate, communicable and non- communicable diseases.
- Ensure the use of Maternal and Child updated protocols and guidelines in the hospital.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices by proper management of resources (human, material, and financial).
- Act as shift leader in the unit (where necessary).
