Gauteng Government is looking for a Sessional Clinical Psycologist to work at Mamelodi Hospital.
Requirements:
- Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist and proof of current registration.
- Grade 1: (No experience required after registration with HPCSA as a Psychologist in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed community service in the relevant profession as required in South Africa).
- Grade 2: Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the relevant council/ HPCSA and a minimum of 8 years’ appropriate experience. Grade 3: Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with the HPCSA.
- A minimum of 12 years’ appropriate experience.
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit current proof of registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as Psychologist in any of the identified registration categories.
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a valid work permit for Non-South African Citizens.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and policies. Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary context.
- Analytic thinking, independent decision making and problem-solving skills.
Duties:
- Provide effective and efficient psychological assessments and treatments to patients of all age groups who are dealing with psychological challenges, including developmental difficulties, psychological distress and/or psychopathology.
- Ensure that quality mental health services are provided according to professional standards and ethical principles.
- Applying evidence based psychological interventions to clients presenting with psychological and /or psychiatric conditions or problems.
- Conduct mental health promotion and prevention activities.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Appropriate referral to other professionals when indicated.
- Designing, managing and evaluating programmes aimed at alleviating psychological distress or psychiatric conditions.
- Adhering to the scope of practice of Clinical Psychologists as stipulated by the Health Professions Act and the HPCSA rules of conduct.
